Hongkong Post said on Friday that it has temporarily closed the General Post Office in Central as well as Kowloon East Post Office, due to preliminary positive Covid infections among staff.

The General Post Office will remain closed until Saturday, but its post office box lobby will re-open on Friday afternoon.

Kowloon East Post Office will be closed until Monday, but the post office box lobby there will re-open on Saturday.

Hongkong Post said the staff believed to be infected worked at service counters behind partitions and were wearing masks while on duty.

It said it has arranged Covid testing for other staff and will disinfect facilities and mail items in the premises.
