Two men have pleaded guilty to rioting in connection with the July 21 Yuen Long attacks.

Prosecutors told the District Court on Monday that Lam Koon-leung and Lam Kai-ming were among a group of white-clad men who attacked passengers and bystanders with wooden sticks inside Yuen Long MTR Station on July 21, 2019.

They said 11 of the prosecution's witnesses were either beaten by the pair, or saw the attacks taking place.

The guilty pleas came on the first day of a trial involving a total of eight men charged with rioting and wounding over the same incident.

The six others pleaded not guilty.

As the expected 25-day-long hearing began, judge Eddie Yip spent a considerable amount of time criticising the performance of the prosecutors.

The judge berated them for handing documents in at the last minute, saying this had left him and the defence lawyers with little time to prepare.
