An elderly man with Covid-19 died in Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday in what was the territory's 12th fatality linked to the pandemic.
A hospital spokesperson said the 94-year-old man, who suffered from chronic disease before catching the virus, died shortly after 10am.
He had been admitted after attending the accident and emergency department on July 9 with a fever and cough.
Officials said the man had been transferred to an isolation ward after being found to have Covid-19. His condition deteriorated on July 13.
The hospital said the patient's family had agreed in advance that doctors should not attempt to resuscitate him if his condition worsened further.
The death was Hong Kong's fifth linked to the pandemic in less than a week.
Earlier, health officials in Guangdong reported two imported coronavirus cases, involving a 31-year-old woman and her son who had travelled there from Hong Kong.
They had been staying in Kowloon before crossing the border to Zhuhai on Thursday.
The 11-year-old boy studies at a primary school in the SAR and is on his summer break.
