An inquest into the death of a university student who fell from a height during protests at Tseung Kwan O last year will start on November 16.
University of Science and Technology student Chow Tsz-lok died in hospital four days after he suffered a fall at the Sheung Tak car park when police were clashing with anti-government protesters in that area.
The inquest is expected to last for about five weeks.
It is understood that over 60 witnesses will be called to testify – including paramedics, doctors, and police officers – and that a virtual reality system will be introduced for the first time to help the jury understand the incident.
Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, chief inspector Mok Tsz-wai appealed to the public to contact the police or coroners' office if they have any new information about the case.
"The police has located a lot of witnesses ... including police and ambulance staff," he said. "We have located a lot of cctv footage, capturing some details of this incident and we would ... display it during the coroner's proceedings".
Chow, who was a second year computer science student, is believed to be the first to die due to injuries linked to the Hong Kong protests.
