Metro Radio was shutting down its offices on Wednesday after a top executive tested positive for Covid-19.

Metro Radio said a senior manager, Karen Ching, had come down with the illness and said its offices in Whampoa would become off-limits to staff from Wednesday afternoon. The station will be thoroughly disinfected and employees tested for Covid-19.

Metro Radio will stay on the air, with simulcast on all three of its channels featuring computer-generated music.

It's not immediately clear when regular broadcasting would resume.

Metro Broadcast Corporation Limited operates three channels. They are Metro Finance, Metro Info and Metro Plus, providing AM and FM services.

Metro Radio is not the only Hong Kong media outlet hit by coronavirus.

Last week, South China Morning Post closed its Causeway Bay headquarters after an editorial staff member tested positive for the virus.
