Health authorities have confirmed three new coronavirus cases – two locally acquired infections linked to previous cases, and one imported case from the UK.

One of the two local cases is a four-year-old boy, who's been having regular treatments for a chronic disease at Tuen Mun Hospital.

The hospital said the boy's most recent treatment was last Friday. He spent around two hours at the hospital's paediatric ward, did not have any respiratory symptoms, and wore a mask most of the time.

He was admitted to the hospital's A&E department on Tuesday because he had developed symptoms of a respiratory infection, and was transferred to a paediatric isolation ward and is in a stable condition.

Tuen Mun Hospital said they've traced the children who stayed in the same ward as him, as well as the healthcare workers who came into contact with him. Ten children have been identified as close contacts, and will be quarantined for two weeks. Another six children will be put under 28-day surveillance.

An operational assistant who cleaned the patient toilet in the ward is also being quarantined for 14 days, since she was not wearing a face shield. The hospital said the ward will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and staff are being reminded about the guidelines concerning personal protective equipment.

The other local case is a 64-year-old woman who lives in Hung Hom; her case is linked to a previous infection. The imported case involves a 41-year-old woman who flew into Hong Kong from the UK; she had been staying at the SkyCity Marriott Hotel at Chek Lap Kok.
