The Registration and Electoral Office announced on Wednesday night that the public viewing of the list of voters for the upcoming District Council elections has been suspended with immediate effect until 4.30pm on Friday October 18.
The Junior Police Officers' Association had filed a judicial review application seeking an urgent interim injunction to, among other things, prohibit the Electoral Registration Officer from making the 2019 Final Registers available for public inspection.
The Court of First Instance dismissed the application, but granted a short injunction order to give the Officers' Association time to consider whether they want to make an appeal.
The police group said making the list of voters public allowed people to link voters to their addresses, increasing the likelihood of officers being "doxxed" - or having their personal details spread online.
