Police said on Wednesday they've arrested a 19-year-old woman in Mong Kok in connection with the national security case involving the group Student Politicism.

Sources said she's the group's spokeperson, Wong Yuen-lam.

In a statement, national security officers said she's been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to incite subversion, adding that the investigation is continuing and more arrests may follow.

Three current and former members of the group – Wong Yat-chin, Chan Chi-sum and Jessica Chu – were remanded in custody by West Kowloon Court on Tuesday after being charged with the same offence.

Speaking after the trio’s arrests on Monday, senior superintendent Steve Li alleged that Student Politicism had carried out a range of subversive acts, including encouraging people not to use the government's voluntary LeaveHomeSafe pandemic app, and using street booths to spread messages "inciting hatred towards the government".

He also accused the group of attempting to recruit “like-minded people” in prison by providing them with supplies such as chocolate and hand cream.
