Police fired tear gas in a late-night clash with demonstrators who set up roadblocks on streets in Tseung Kwan O, one of a series of clashes across the SAR.
Officers deployed multiple rounds of tear gas around the Sheung Tak Estate shortly before 1am on Monday after protesters threw glass bottles and bricks at officers, who responded with warning flags.
Reports say a second-year student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was injured after falling from the third floor of a car park of the estate onto the second floor while attempting to get away from the tear gas. At least two other people were reportedly injured.
Earlier in the day, there were clashes between riot police and protesters in various districts, including Sha Tin and Tuen Mun. In Tai Koo, five people were injured in a knife attack that also saw part of a district councillor's ear bitten off.
