Riot police fired rounds of tear gas in Tsim Sha Tsui near Polytechnic University on Thursday morning.

Officers stationed at the intersection of Austin Road and Chatham Road South said an arrow was shot at a group of police officers patrolling the area at about 7am.

A group of people were holding umbrellas and gathering on a podium at the university.

A section of Austin Road was closed to traffic and police urged pedestrians to leave the scene as soon as possible.

At around 8am, burning objects were thrown onto the train tracks near Hung Hom MTR Station. Train services on the East Rail Line were briefly disrupted.
