Riot police on Saturday morning took away at least one box of suspected petrol bombs from the Chinese University campus - at the same spot where police and students were involved in violent clashes earlier in the week.
But no black-clad protesters were to be seen there after they had retreated on Friday night. Several riot police with long shields went into the area at around 8 o'clock on Saturday morning.
Chief superintendent Rupert Dover was seen leading the squad but he barely spoke to reporters.
