Over a hundred masked students and alumni formed a human chain outside Hon Wah College on Monday morning, saying staff had forced a student to take off his black mask and summoned his parents over the incident.
Pupils and former students braved the heavy rain and formed a human chain around the school around 7am as a protest. Some of them wore face masks also.
The protesters shouted slogans like "five demands, not one less" and "Hong Kong people resist" and sang songs popular with anti-government agitators. Some students from secondary schools nearby also joined the protest to show their support.
A former student who took part in the protest said the authorities of the secondary school in Siu Sai Wan are pro-Beijing and monitor or even punish students for expressing certain opinions.
A representative tried to hand their petition to the school but no one came forward to accept it. The letter was then left on the gates outside the campus as the protesters dispersed when classes started at 8am.
