DAB chairwoman Starry Lee has invited fellow lawmakers to offer suggestions on how to handle the deadlock over the Legislative Council House Committee, which has been unable to elect a chair in the past six months because of a filibuster.
In a letter to all legislators, Lee, who was the committee's chair in the last legislative year, says the public and some lawmakers have expressed concern about the issue.
The issue has come to the fore this week after the central government expressed concern about the issue.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office said filibustering by the pro-democracy camp disrupted the normal operations of the legislature, and accused the pan-democrats of misconduct in public office.
Lee says she also received letters from Civic Party lawmakers asking the committee to discuss the recent remarks from the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office.
Lawmakers have been asked to hand in suggestions to the LegCo Secretariat by 4pm next Tuesday.
