People living at a public housing estate in Shek Kip Mei on Friday said they were not afraid after a 76-year-old resident there tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.

Health authorities had put Wing Chak House in Chak On Estate into lockdown overnight for compulsory testing, but found no infections.

Residents of the building told RTHK they were not worried, with many saying they are already double- or triple-jabbed and practise good hygiene.

A man surnamed Chan noted that the pandemic has gone on for two years and said people are just carrying on with their lives.

"To be honest, I am not scared. I've been scared many times for two years already - I'm numb to the whole situation," he said.

"I will wear face masks and wash my hands frequently, and I know the hygiene situation in the estate is quite good since I've lived here for a long time."

Another resident said there was no need to worry too much, noting that the infection was related to an imported case, while another man said he would avoid crowded places and spray more sanitiser.
