A suspected triad boss nicknamed "Shanghai Boy" was released on police bail on Tuesday evening after he was arrested at the airport on Sunday.
The 62-year-old suspect, whose real name is Kwok Wing-hung, will have to report back to the police in January. He was earlier detained on suspicion of criminal defamation, conspiracy to wound and conspiracy to commit criminal damage.
However, Kwok will still need to serve 14 days in quarantine after returning from overseas.
He was previously arrested in 2017 on suspicion of laundering more than HK$100 million, but he allegedly went on the run.
Kwok made headlines in 2012 when he reportedly attended a dinner with aides to CY Leung, who was running for chief executive at the time.
