Seven More Nabbed Over Police Stabbing Case

Police said they have arrested five men and two women for allegedly trying to help a man suspected of stabbing a police officer during a protest on July 1, flee the territory.
The suspected assailant – a 24-year-old man was arrested at the airport on July 2. He was reportedly hauled off a plane that was set to take off.
Senior Superintendent Yau Kin-hung from the Commercial Crime Bureau told reporters that the seven people, aged between 24 and 71, are suspected of arranging an air ticket and transportation to the airport for the man.
"We do not rule out the possibility that more people will be arrested afterwards," Yau said.
Police said the seven arrested could face up to 10 years in prison for "assisting" the suspect.
An officer was stabbed in the shoulder while conducting a dispersal operation near the Central Library in Causeway Bay on July 1.
More than 300 people were arrested during protests against the newly-implemented national security law, with police firing water cannon and tear gas at demonstrators. (Additional reporting by Reuters)
