At least seven people have been injured in a collision between a New World First bus and a tram in North Point. The collision happened at around 8 am on King's Road.
Footage showed that the bus had hit the end of the tram at a 45 degree angle, and the force had been strong enough to shatter the front window of the bus.
The bus driver and six tram passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
The accident comes less than a week after Hong Kong's worst bus accident in nearly 15 years. Nineteen people died, and dozens were injured, when a KMB bus flipped onto its side near Tai Po last Saturday.
As a result of the Tai Po accident, the Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced a judge-led commission of inquiry to make sure that Hong Kong’s public transport system, especially buses, are safe and reliable.
On Thursday, KMB said it had stopped using part-time drivers due to public concerns about safety. A part-time driver had been driving the KMB bus.
It is not known whether the New World First bus driver works on a full-time, or part-time basis.
