A self-proclaimed Taoist monk has been convicted of molesting a woman and her teenage daughter while claiming that he was driving out evil spirits that were causing the woman's seizures.

Yuen Ming-kuen was found guilty of six counts of indecent assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The District Court heard that the 57-year-old had touched the woman indecently on several occasions between August 2016 and March 2017.

He also hit the woman in the head and chest while claiming he was “duelling” with an evil spirit.

Yuen also groped the woman’s daughter, who was 15 at the time.
