Security at major government buildings was stepped-up on Sunday ahead of the latest march against the extradition amendments bill, which has already been suspended by Chief Executive Carrie Lam.

In anticipation of another huge turnout, giant water barriers were erected at government headquarters and police headquarters.

Yesterday an appeal board decided to extend the end time of Sunday's rally to 11.59 pm. However, it did not overturn the police’s suggestion that the march must end in Wan Chai, rather than in Central.

The march's organiser, the Civil Human Rights Front said it was disappointed with the appeal board's decision.

The front’s vice-convenor Bonnie Leung said they wanted to end the march in Central or Admiralty, instead of Wan Chai, because the endpoint selected by the police is already quite crowded with people going to or leaving the annual book fair at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The police have announced that crowd management measures will be implemented inside MTR Wan Chai Station.
