The secretaries of health minister Sophia Chan and civil service chief Patrick Nip tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.

The two infected staff members provide secretarial support to the ministers and do have contact with the public.

Nip’s secretary last went to work on Monday, and Chan’s secretary last worked on Friday - the day she last met the health minister.

The two government officials both take daily rapid tests, which have all come back negative.

Chan also underwent testing via professional swab sampling on Tuesday morning, and the result was also negative.

Authorities said the relevant offices will be thoroughly disinfected and staff will be asked to undergo Covid tests.
