  • Row cancels talks between KMB, drivers' union

A meeting between a union representing drivers and KMB that was to be held on Monday was cancelled after the operator said it would only hold one-to-one talks.

Monthly Paid Bus Drivers Alliance leader Yip Wai-lam accused the bus operator of being insincere after it insisted on meeting her alone, instead of talking to the alliance.

KMB said it was just following existing procedures and was willing to meet her or any other of the 1,000 members of the alliance individually.

The alliance had gone on a four-hour strike on Saturday night after KMB announced a new wage structure for drivers.

The company said that the minimum pay for drivers has been increased to about HK$15,000. But the alliance says it should be raised to at least HK18,000.

After the Saturday strike, the alliance said it was planning no further industrial action.
