Some residents living at a public housing estate hit by a Covid-19 outbreak have fled their homes, according to a Kwai Tsing district councillor.
At least a dozen coronavirus patients were confirmed at Kwai Shing West Estate on Sunday. They all live in five flats on the same floor in block eight.
Ivy Leung, from the Neighbourhood and Worker's Service Centre, said on Monday that tenants are worried because the authorities did not announce the flat numbers of those infected. So, some people packed up belongings and left, she said.
Leung told an RTHK programme that authorities have been distributing test kits to some 350 households, and the process has gone mostly smoothly.
On top of that, Leung said the government plans to carry out swab tests at the Kwai Shing community hall for three days starting Monday.
The authorities have also sent cleaners to disinfect public areas of the estate.
Residents of block eight, meanwhile, have been returning saliva test kits to the lobby.
