A group of people affiliated with the horse racing industry have become the latest to be at odds with lawmaker Junius Ho.

In a joint petition, they called on the Jockey Club to cancel the membership of pro-government lawmaker Ho, who has been accused of supporting those who launched an indiscriminate attack on bystanders and commuters at the Yuen Long MTR station on Sunday night.

They also want Ho's horse, "Hong Kong Bet", to be withdrawn from all races with immediate effect.

They condemned the pro-establishment lawmaker for stoking fear in Hong Kong, adding the Jockey Club – as a world-class racing organisation advocating a better society – should steer clear of people who support the use of violence.

The Jockey Club, meanwhile, said it has an established policy regarding the conduct of members. It refused to comment on individual cases, but said in a statement that if a member broke club rules, or committed behaviour that was detrimental to the club's interest or reputation, disciplinary action could be taken.

On Monday, thousands of students, teachers and alumni at Ho’s alma mater, Queen’s College, signed a joint petition calling on the Legislative Council to impeach the legislator.

The Law Society also says they will look into complaints about Ho's apparent support for the attackers.

In a video widely circulated on social media, Ho was seen greeting a group of people in white shirts, congratulating some of them, as well as shaking hands with them.

But during a highly charged press conference on Monday, Ho denied any suggestion of involvement in the violence, saying he was only reaching out to residents as a lawmaker representing his constituency.
