  • Protests held at MTR station over Yuen Long attack

Around a dozen people staged a demonstration at the Kowloon Tong MTR station, urging passengers not to forget the mob violence in Yuen Long which happened exactly a month ago.

Train services were not disrupted, however, in what was supposed to be a non-cooperative action.

The demonstrators gathered at the platform at around 8am and chanted slogans and played videos of the mob violence as well as how police forcefully arrested anti-extradition protesters in Taikoo MTR station on August 11.

One of the demonstrators said they didn't block train doors to disrupt service because people had complained about being late for work during previous such protests.

One protester who gave his name as Lai said their aim is not to stop people from going to work, but to put pressure the government to take action.

"In Yuen Long, one month ago, HK citizens and passengers were attacked by triads and I think we should continue to press the government to investigate what went wrong that night and stop similar incidents happening again," he said.

Similar protests were also reported on Fortress Hill and Lai King stations where some protesters turned up with placards and footage of the Yuen Long mob attack.

Some internet users have also called for a rally at the Yuen Long MTR station on Wednesday night to mark the day.
