  • Protesters slam 'unfair' voting arrangements

The DAB and a number of other groups on Saturday protested outside the Electoral Affairs Commission’s office demanding improvements to voting arrangements for September’s Legislative Council polls.

The DAB had been demanding that the elderly, pregnant women and the disabled be given priority in elections.

But the commission earlier announced that every voter will have to queue for their turn for fairness and equality’s sake.

The commission said it will adopt the arrangement from last year’s polls when the elderly, pregnant women, and the disabled were given a seat while waiting.

The matter has always drawn controversy, given the perception that older voters in Hong Kong tend to support the government, and some of them were reportedly put off by long queues during last year’s district council polls and gave up on voting.
