Protesters swarmed roads in Central on Thursday lunchtime for the fourth day in a row, as a sizable crowd also took to the streets of Taikoo.

Roads including Pedder Street and Connaught Road Central were blocked with rubbish, barricades, bins and other debris in Central as office workers again mingled with black-clad "frontline" protesters.

Meanwhile, demonstrators also marched through Taikoo, blocking King's Road near Kornhill, and chanting "Hongkongers, take revenge".

At around 2.30pm, police arrived in Central and set about clearing the roads. They also brought one of the force's water cannons with them.

Officers raced into a bank at one point, asking people whether they had witnessed scuffles in the area, but officers didn't seem to find anyone of interest.

A woman suffered an eye injury after apparently being struck by some kind of object, although people at the scene weren't sure what exactly.

There was a commotion as officers charged down Pedder Street and several journalists were knocked down during the chaos. One person was detained.

On Wednesday, officers had taken swift action to tackle protesters in Central, with ugly scenes erupting shortly after the lunchtime action began.

But despite charging at people and making arrests, those protests continued throughout the afternoon.
