Members of a pro-police group "Safeguard Hong Kong" gathered outside the Central Police District Headquarters in Sheung Wan on Saturday morning to show their support for the force.
They handed out a fruit basket and letters to officers as a token of gratitude.
The convenor of the group, Kennedy Wong, said police have been very civilised when handling all anti-extradition bill protests in the past two months.
"Currently there are no laws against insulting officers in Hong Kong, so police often got assaulted by protesters, but they have remained civilised despite that. If protesters are not happy with the force, they can go to the The Independent Police Complaints Council" Wong said.
Wong also said it is not the right time to set up an independent inquiry into the saga as social unrest are continuing.
He said he hopes Chief Executive Carrie Lam could pay more visits to different districts to deal with economic and livelihood issues.
