Priscilla Leung Urges Rivals To Help End Protests

Pro-government lawmaker Priscilla Leung on Tuesday called on leaders of the opposition camp to step in to help put an end to the conflicts stemming from the anti-extradition bill protests.

The BPA party member said if protesters continue disruption of government services like the storming of Revenue Tower and Immigration Tower on Monday or blocking of police headquarters on Friday, it will anger both opponents and supporters of the now suspended bill. "I do not want to see this thing to happen," Leung said.

"We cannot stop the demonstrators. We just hope the leaders of the opposition camp can help to resolve the situation," she said. "Maybe this is the time for representatives of both the pro-establishment and the opposition camp, legislators and political group leaders to sit together to think how to go ahead for Hong Kong."

Leung also told RTHK's Janice Wong that a planned rally on Wednesday to urge world leaders at the G20 summit to speak out for Hong Kong will not help as it might only upset central government leaders.

The Civil Human Rights Front has called for a rally at Edinburgh Place in Central on Wednesday urging world leaders at the G20 summit to speak out for Hong Kong. President Xi Jinping will also take part in the meetings in Osaka later this week.

US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo had said earlier that President Donald Trump will raise this with Xi during the summit.
