Joshua Wong talks to RTHK's Janice Wong

Demosisto leader Joshua Wong on Wednesday repeated his allegation that Beijing was behind the decision to ban him from next month's district council elections, and said it will only trigger more international support to safeguard Hong Kong's autonomy.

"It will trigger more and more international community support and safeguard Hong Kong's autonomy," said Wong. "Now that Beijing has made the decision, it will result in more backfire around the world."

Wong said he was targeted by Beijing due to his global popularity and international advocacy.

He called on US senators to pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act as soon as possible.

The disqualified candidate told RTHK's Janice Wong that he plans court action to show how electoral officers "violate procedural justice'.
