RTHK has learnt that a sergeant in the Police Tactical Unit infected with Covid-19 is now in critical condition in intensive care at Queen Elizabeth Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
Sources said the 46-year-old man -- who's the fourth officer in Hong Kong known to have the virus -- was intubated.
He is believed to have caught the virus after using toilet facilities at the Kowloon West Police Operational Base in Shek Kip Mei.
The policeman was involved in crowd-dispersal operations on 31 March in Prince Edward, when protesters went to the MTR station there to mark seven months since armed elite police officers stormed the platforms and trains, pepper-spraying and hitting passengers in their bit as they arrest suspects.
Another officer from the Shek Kip Mei police station had previously gone down with the virus.
