Hong Kong police are warning they will be carrying out a month-long operation tackling illegal betting as the World Cup will be kicking off soon.
The Organised Crime and Triad Bureau said officers have a series of law enforcement actions planned.
Senior superintendent Louis Chan said many gambling syndicates had moved out of the city after raids in recent years, and they now accept bets via the internet and smartphones.
He said that means detectives will need to put more time and effort into finding evidence.
