Police are investigating the deaths of a father and son in Sai Ying Pun early on Monday morning as a possible murder-suicide.
Officers say a security guard had found a 44-year-old man lying unconscious in a back alley following reports of a disturbance at around 12:30am in a residential building on High Street.
He was declared dead at the scene when paramedics arrived.
Police later found the man’s father, 78, lying in a pool of blood with two knife wounds to his chest and stomach in a nearby flat.
He was certified dead after he was brought to hospital.
A 35-centimetre-long knife was found in the apartment.
Assistant Western District Crime Commander Sin Kwok-ming said preliminary investigations suggest the two men had gotten into an argument, and officers believe the son might have fallen from the flat after attacking his father.
Officers said the mother was asleep the whole time, and has been sent to hospital for observation.
