The government says it won't tolerate any attempts to threaten judges, and warned that police are investigating an intimidation attempt.
In a statement issued late on Friday, it said that a judge "has received intimidation", but didn't give details and it didn't name the judge.
"The HKSAR Government will take resolute actions and will not tolerate such illegal acts which disregard the law and undermine the rule of law," it said in a statement.
It said police are following up the case.
