Dozens of people confronted a group of riot police at Tai Koo MTR station on Thursday evening, hurling abuse at the officers and telling them to leave. They also chanted anti-extradition slogans.

It's not clear why the officers were there but people had been gathering at a nearby mall and MTR stations have often been vandalised by protesters.

The officers later left the station to jeers but were followed into the street.

In August, police stormed Tai Koo Station to arrest anti-extradition protesters who had set up positions there. But the intensity of the police action, which was broadcast on television, led to them being angrily confronted residents of the mainly middle class area.

Meanwhile, rallies have also been taking place in shopping malls in Sha Tin, Tuen Mun and Sheung Shui.
