Police on Thursday charged a man in connection with a murder that took place 27 years ago. The suspect, now 50, was arrested in Kwun Tong on Wednesday.
The case centres around the death of an 18-year-old man on June 26, 1993. He had been attacked by four men with knives, following a dispute in the early hours of the morning at an entertainment venue on Wharf Road in North Point.
The four suspects in the attack, then aged between 18 and 23, fled to the mainland.
Two of them, both 18, returned to Hong Kong on August 3, 1993 and were immediately arrested. One was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to seven years in prison. The other was acquitted.
Police laid a holding charge of one count of murder against the suspect. The case will be mentioned at Eastern Court on Friday.
