  • Police ban Sunday's protest rally against mask law

The police have issued an objection to a protest march that the Civil Human Rights Front is planning hold on Sunday, citing violent incidents stemming from recent protests.

The march that the front is trying to organise in Tsim Sha Tsui was intended to protest against the anti-mask law, and call for the reform of the police force.

The front's vice-convenor, Eric Lai, said they have appealed against the decision and it will be heard on Saturday morning.

Lai said he is not optimistic about the outcome.

But he said Hong Kong people will not be scared off by the ban, or by attacks on pro-democracy activists, such as the one on the front's convenor Jimmy Sham.

Most of the rallies and marches planned by the anti-government protesters in recent times were denied permission by the police, but most of them had gone ahead despite the objections.
