The Peak Tram will close from Tuesday for improvement work expected to last two to three months.

A special bus route, X-15, will run from Admiralty directly to The Peak's bus terminus in the meantime in addition to normal services.

The Peak Tramways Company says the improvement works include laying new tracks, strengthening track foundations and bridges, as well as larger cars with a capacity of 210 people, up from the current 120.

During the redevelopment period, officials expect significant traffic jams around Peak Road, Magazine Gap Road and Stubbs Road.
