  • Partial school suspension after pupils test positive

Health officials on Monday ordered the partial suspension of two schools that were hit by Covid-19 infections.

The Centre for Health Protection's Chuang Shuk-kwan said they were among 147 schools that reported a total of 204 cases.

"Each school may have one or two cases mostly, and a few of them have more than two or three cases, so this reflects the situation in the community. This may not reflect there is an outbreak in those schools," she said.

Still, health authorities have asked two of those schools to suspend certain classes.

Three classes at the Kowloon Tong Funful English Primary School have been suspended for a few days after a dozen pupils contracted the virus. Four of them had basketball training on Friday.

At Fuk Wing Street Government Primary School in Sham Shui Po, one class was suspended after four students tested positive for Covid.

For the day, 543 new Covid infections were reported, including 86 imported cases.

That's up from 515 on Sunday.

More than a dozen new infections were reported from LINQ and Shuffle each, two of four bars in Central that have reported an outbreak.

There were no new Covid-related deaths.
