Hong Kong's Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned on Thursday that the city's "street violence" is now being copied abroad, from Spain to Chile, as separatists from the SAR collude with those overseas.
Speaking at a Greater Bay Area forum, Xie Feng said overseas protesters have vowed to turn their home countries into "another Hong Kong".
Xie said people calling for Hong Kong independence are colluding with separatists overseas.
He added that once the Pandora's Box of trying to achieve goals by breaking the law is opened, no country could be spared.
Xie also criticised the US House of Representatives for passing the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, saying American politicians are “standing with rioters”, rather than “standing with Hong Kong” as they claim.
He said it is just wishful thinking on the part of Hong Kong's opposition camp and the "foreign forces behind them" that they can create chaos in the SAR and overturn the government, and they will only hurt themselves in the end.
