The government says some 7,900 people have made appointments to have their Covid-19 jabs at home since bookings for the outreach vaccination scheme opened a week ago.

Twenty medical teams have started visiting homes in Eastern district on Tuesday morning.

Civil service minister Patrick Nip, who's in charge of the city’s vaccination drive, said more teams will be sent to Sai Kung on Thursday, and they will visit four to five districts per week.

Nip said he hopes the medical teams could cover all districts across Hong Kong within a month.

Officials had said they hope the new service will boost the vaccination rate among people aged 70 or above as well as the disabled or those with impaired mobility due to illnesses.

The medical teams wear green uniforms and they will contact applicants of the scheme shortly before arriving.

People interested in the Home Vaccination Service can make a booking through the website or call the hotline 5688-5234 between 9am and 8pm.
