Over 2,500 people were tested for Covid-19 in the government's latest overnight lockdowns, resulting in one preliminary positive case from the Tuen Mun area.

The person found in the anti-epidemic operation at Tower 1 of Goodview Garden has been sent to a treatment centre.

Around 240 residents were tested at a building on To Kwa Wan Road before the lockdown there was lifted at about 6:30am. The largest operation was at Hing Wah Estate in Chai Wan, where over 1,800 people were screened for coronavirus by about 7am.

No infections were found there or in the lockdown in Kowloon.

Earlier, the Centre for Health Protection said that even though the 19 new cases reported on Wednesday represented the lowest figure in two and a half months, the coronavirus situation was not yet under control because a number of those cases had no clear source of infection.
