  • Office worker is first untraced Covid case in days

Hong Kong has reported its first coronavirus infection with no known source in almost a week.

The patient, a 44-year-old office worker, lives in North Point and works at Shun Tak Centre in Sheung Wan. The Centre for Health Protection later clarified that the man visited Shenzhen between the end of September and October 6, but was in Hong Kong throughout the incubation period

He was identified as a carrier of the virus after undergoing tests arranged by his company on Wednesday.

He didn't have any respiratory symptoms, but had reported feeling tired for a few days.

Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said some 40 of his co-workers have tested negative for the virus, but 11 of them who are considered close contacts will be put under quarantine.

During his infectious period, he went hiking with friends on Beacon Hill and Mount Parker, and had lunch with the Beacon Hill group. Those friends will also be put under quarantine.

Health authorities also reported six imported Covid-19 cases on Friday, involving three people who flew in from India, two from Pakistan and one from the Philippines.
