  • Ocean Park floats plans for 'cool' yoga, camping

Fancy camping at some scenic site in an air-conditioned tent where showers are also provided? Or are you up for some cool yoga under the gaze of some sea lions and seals?

If this is your idea of a good time, then Ocean Park may be just the place for you.

The cash-strapped park said these are ideas they hope will lure back visitors to the venue which is struggling to stay afloat after accruing huge debts. The government has already extended multi-billion dollar help and asked them to revamp the park to attract more visitors.

As a part of this and the management's plan to woo local residents as the pandemic has cut off visitors from outside, they are offering some "staycation" plans.

One of their plan is hour-long yoga classes at multiple locations – including inside the aquarium, and if you are adventurous on the artificial lake outside.

For those looking for an even cooler place, there is always the 'North Pole Encounter' to do a headstand or lotus pose under the gaze of seals and walruses.

These classes start next month, and costs an extra HK$80 for regular customers. Visitors who've bought a special, HK$380 package get it for free though.

And if yoga is not your cup of tea, visitors can choose to hike on the Nam Long Shan trail underneath the park's signature cable car, together with guides. The park said this has never been open to the public before.

And fans of 'glamping' may want to look into camping out overnight inside the park. Don't worry about the heat or the mosquitoes, though. These tents will be fully air-conditioned, with showers.

To add to the camping feel, the participants will also be enjoying a barbecue dinner – at the Terrace Cafe.

Such luxuries come at a premium though. The park expects the price to be something around HK$3,000 for a family of four.
