The Hong Kong Observatory has warned people to wrap up warm this week, saying the mercury is expected to dip to 13 degrees on Tuesday morning.
Forecasters said as an intense winter monsoon moves closer towards the SAR, local temperatures are expected to fall significantly from around 20 degrees on Monday afternoon, to 15 degrees overnight and a couple degrees lower on Tuesday morning.
It added that the cool weather will last for one or two more days, with the minimum temperature expected to be around 13 or 14 degrees in urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories.
Another cold front, meanwhile, is expected to approach the territory over the weekend.
As the chilly weather kicks in, the Senior Citizens Home Safety Association called on elderly people to be extra vigilant, saying while they should dress up warm and drink plenty of warm water, it is also important that they keep their windows at home open to ensure good ventilation.
