The Hong Kong Observatory lowered the number three Strong Wind Signal at 9.10pm on Saturday, as a tropical depression continued to move away from the city.
The observatory said during the past few hours, local winds had also weakened. The gusts had picked up on Friday night as the storm approached the region, and strong wind alert was issued then.
At 9pm, the storm was estimated to be about 760 kilometres away Hong Kong and heading towards Sanya city on the mainland.
But weathermen said the influence of the weather disturbance may linger and there will still be occasional squally showers in Hong Kong.
