The North District Hospital on Monday reported two hiccups with its negative-pressure wards used to house two coronavirus patients - but said there was a low risk of infection because of the incidents.

It said the patients didn not leave their single-bed wards during the malfunctions.

The Hospital said the first problem took place last Friday morning and lasted for less than 20 minutes. A ventilating fan malfunctioned and triggered an alarm, and a backup fan was activated immediately as workers conducted emergency repair works.

The second took place on Sunday and the problem - with an air curtain - was fixed within 20 minutes.

The cases have been reported to the head office of the Hospital Authority.
