Health authorities recorded no new Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong on Saturday, with the city’s overall tally of confirmed cases remaining at 1,039.
The city has seen only two new infections since last Saturday, with the two cases reported on Friday – a 34-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl – among some 300 residents who returned to the SAR via a chartered flight from Pakistan on Tuesday.
The vast majority of recent coronavirus cases in the city have been classified as imported, with the last local case without an epidemiological link to an imported case being recorded on April 19.
The Hospital Authority says 172 patients are being treated in 14 hospitals, and 864 patients who had confirmed or probable Covid-19 infections had recovered and been discharged.
Nonetheless, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) urged people not to let their guard down.
The CHP said the public should maintain appropriate social distancing to minimise the risk of infection. It said people should go out less and avoid social activities to reduce the chances of an outbreak cluster emerging in the local community.
