The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Patrick Nip, has rejected the idea of an independent probe into the extradition bill, saying it's unnecessary.
Nip said on Saturday the Independent Police Complaints Council IPCC) is quite capable of investigating the extradition bill saga.
He added that it's already started its work, so a reform within the council is not an option.
"I think the best way to do it is to let the IPCC do these studies, and when the results, the outcome is available ...we can see whether it has actually addressed the concerns," Nip said.
The IPCC has said a report on an investigation into anti-extradition bill protests will be ready in six months and it hoped to publicise it when it was finished.
