Health officials said on Tuesday that they had not yet found any confirmed cases of coronavirus at a residential block in Tung Chung that was locked down overnight.

Mei Yat House in Yat Tung Estate was placed under lockdown on Monday evening, after a resident tested preliminary positive for a mutant strain of Covid-19.

They said that as of 2am on Tuesday, around 1,600 people had been tested and no confirmed cases had been found.

The resident who tested preliminary positive for Covid-19 is an unvaccinated 47-year-old woman who works as an airline lounge staff member at the airport.

The source of her infection is not yet known, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said. She has no travel history.

The CHP said she developed symptoms on Friday and consulted a private doctor on Sunday. A deep throat saliva sample she gave at the North Lantau Hospital tested preliminary positive, and carried the L452R mutant strain.

Her workplace and places she visited during the incubation and infectious period are also subject to a compulsory testing notice.
