  • New Covid cases drop further to 429

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) on Sunday reported 429 new Covid cases – almost 100 fewer than the day before – as well as the deaths of another 13 Covid patients.

Officials said 221 infections were confirmed by PCR tests and the rest were reported by people who took self-tests.

Among the new cases, 19 were imported.

Albert Au from the CHP said the number of new cases is going down slowly and so far they haven't seen a rebound after the Easter holidays.

However, he said the authorities still need to observe the situation closely before deciding when social distancing measures can be relaxed further.

"Based on various parameters, the government will make risk assessments on the latest epidemic situation and adjust social distancing measures appropriately," he said.
